11 students have learned that lesson. They were allegedly kicked off of their teams because of this VIDEO (Blogger won't let me embed tonight).
A few things that these student athletes forgot:
- They're not NFL-caliber talents. Therefore, the university doesn't care about them.
- People with power tend to be idiots. Only difference is that those powerful people are serious about their idiocy.
- Ray Lewis was needed in this video. Lewis would've helped to "Cover it up." Even if they got caught, the university would show forgiveness to someone with Lewis' star power
Earlier this week, a video involving 11 student-athletes simulating sex acts in the university’s weight room was produced and publicly posted. We met with the student-athletes involved and removed them from their intercollegiate athletics teams. At the same time, the students were given a plan of action outlining the pathway to reinstatement to their teams.Talk about an overreaction. Did alumni force these people to make this decision?
Susquehanna University promotes a culture of respect and personal responsibility. Participation in intercollegiate athletics is a great privilege. The student-athlete handbook calls upon student-athletes to be exemplary role models by demonstrating respect for others and acting in a first-class manner.
We are disappointed by this behavior and the way in which these student-athletes represented our teams and the university. We hope that they learn from this experience, and that they will earn their way back to representing Susquehanna as members of their teams.

These are college students, not kindergartners. They're just acting stupid and having fun. That was nothing that most kids wouldn't do when they're out of class or off campus.
Could anyone imagine this happening at a more-prestigious university? Their athletic director would get laughed out of the state. At least Susquehanna University gained some exposure from this overreaction.
As far as the students, their reinstatement plan will hopefully be simple.
These "student athletes" are representing the university when they posted a video linking the school name to their actions, and they were utilizing university property. These kids have been creating problems at the school all year. Their crass and boorish behavior makes many wonder how D3 athletes can feel so entitled - most were very average high school athletes. The school is actually trying to recruit real students. This does not help.
ReplyDeleteI would hope that these "Real students" who were considering this university wouldn't write them off because some football players made a Harlem Shake video. This trend is, for whatever reason, being done by most colleges across the nation. Those students are going to be writing off a lot of schools haha.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about past behavior. Haven't heard that anywhere.
